Warner/Chappell Music Signs New Deal With Matt Bellamy And Muse To Unite Administration Of Publishing Catalogue For First Time
Warner/Chappell Music, the global music publishing arm of Warner Music Group, announced a new agreement with Warner Bros. Records recording band Muse and songwriter / front-man Matt Bellamy which will result in all of the acclaimed group's songs being administered through one publisher for the first time. Encompassing the world excluding North America and Mexico, the new deal covers the award-winning group's first three albums, 'Showbiz', 'Origin of Symmetry' and 'Absolution', as well as related works such as live album 'Hullabaloo', b-sides and E.Ps. An earlier global deal covers the multi-platinum-selling 'Black Holes and Revelations', 'HAARP' and future works including the much anticipated new album 'The Resistance'.
The band's lead vocalist, guitarist and pianist Matthew Bellamy is also its primary songwriter and lyricist. His songs and the unique sound the band has created have met with critical praise and chart success around the world. The group's last two studio albums, 'Absolution' and 'Black Holes and Revelations' were particularly popular, with no.1s in France, Belgium, Switzerland, UK, Ireland and Australia as well as top ten chart positions in many other countries. Muse is also widely recognised as one of the world's top live draws, twice winning the BRIT Award for 'Best Live Act' amongst a host of other plaudits including Q, NME and MTV awards. In addition, Matt Bellamy is growing his reputation as a composer, especially for films including writing the end title music for 'The International' which was released this year, starring Clive Owen.
